Kenya Flood Relief Kits Distributed

We are grateful to the clients who contributed to our recent fundraiser to support those affected by flooding in Kenya. In total, approximately 389,000 people were displaced by the flooding and an estimated 267 people died. Together with KENYACOF (Sucafina in Kenya) and the Red Cross, the money you contributed was matched and used to purchase 10 emergency survival kits that will feed 10 households of 5 people a full 3 meals a day for approximately 2 months.

The kits include

  • 24kg maize flour
  • 25kg rice
  • 9kg beans
  • 2 liters cooking oil
  • 1 kg salt
  • 3 bars of soap
  • 2 packets of toothpaste
  • 6 toothbrushes
  • 5 towels
  • 2 packages of petroleum jelly
  • 6 packages of sanitary towels
  • 5 pairs of flip flops
  • 10 packages of tissue paper

To best assist those impacted, KENYACOF worked with the Red Cross to distribute these kits. They were delivered on June 26th.
